Since our chartering in 1990, our Sigma Iota Omega chapter has been committed to fostering academic excellence, leadership, and community service in Robeson County and Columbus County.

We are partnering with Sisters with Pearls Serving Society Foundation (SPSS), Inc, and through this scholarship program, we continue our legacy of supporting promising students like you in achieving your educational aspirations. 

2026 Available Scholarships

  • Think HBCU Scholarship - Applicants have been accepted and plan to attend a Historically Black College or University. Grade Point Average 3.0 and higher.

​

  • Ivy Memorial Scholarship - Applicants have demonstrated outstanding achievement, leadership, and involvement in school, extra-curricular activities, and church and community. Grade Point Average 3.2 and higher.

​

  • Merit Scholarship - Applicants have demonstrated exceptional community involvement and presents a financial hardship. Grade Point Average 2.5 and higher.

​

  • Excel Award Scholarship - Applicants have demonstrated the potential to excel in college and has school and community involvement. Grade Point Average 2.5 to 3.0.

​

  • Book Award Scholarship - Applicants have been accepted to an accredited college or university and overall impressive application. Grade Point Average 2.5 or higher.

  • Future Educator Scholarship in Memory of Frances McArthur Cummings - Applicant has been accepted and plans to major in education or related majors. Applicant must have demonstrated outstanding achievement, leadership, and community involvement. Grade Point Average 2.5 and higher.

  • HBCU for Life in Memory of Anita Powell McDowell - Applicant has been accepted and plans to attend Winston-Salem State University or another HBCU. (Preference given to students who plan to attend Winston-Salem State University). Grade Point Average 2.5 and higher.

​

  • HBCU for Life in Honor of Ruby Patterson Lennon - Applicant has been accepted and plans to attend North Carolina Central University or another HBCU. (Preference given to students who plan to attend North Carolina Central University) Grade Point Average 2.5 and higher.

​

  • HBCU for Life in Memory of Ethel Pearl Ford - Applicant has been accepted and plans to attend Fayetteville State University or another HBCU. (Preference given to students who plan to attend Fayetteville State University). Grade Point Average 2.5 and higher.

​

  • Excellence in STEAM - Applicant has been accepted to a four-year university and plans to pursue a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics and has demonstrated outstanding achievement, leadership, and involvement in school, extracurricular activities, and church or community involvement.  Grade Point Average 3.0 and higher.

  • Healthcare Scholarship in Memory of Edythe Brend Hill - Applicant is pursuing a degree in a healthcare-related field. Applicant must have demonstrated outstanding achievement, leadership, and community involvement. Grade Point Average 3.0 and higher.

​Eligibility Requirements​​

  • ​​​Applicants must attend a school in Robeson County or Columbus County and be a high school senior, graduating in Spring 2025  â€‹

  • ​Applicants may be female, male, or non-binary  â€‹â€‹â€‹

  • ​Applicant must be accepted to a 2-year Community College, 4-Year College or University, and show proof of enrollment before scholarship funds will be dispersed.  

​​​​​Application Process ​

  • Complete online application and supported documents by the deadline. ​

  • 400-word Essay

  • Two (2) letters of recommendation. (School reference, Community reference)​​​​

  • Transcript (Official high school transcript)

  • Acceptance Letter (Letter of acceptance to an accredited college or university)​​​​​
